23 Jan 2007: 3 ways

It's been a long day already and I took a short day at work to make sure that Mommwah is resting and taking medicine and liquids. Weird thing is now I'm carryin' this bizarro headache. I suppose I should sleep more and work less - but oh well, I'll rest when I retire in 10 years.

Last night was a 3 way food feast.

Even with a crazy ass headache - I still threw down for monster bowls.

Uh Yah - that's a bowl for 1. HAHAHA.

Details below.

Sweet Ginger Chicken with Bok Choy

Cabbage with Bamboo Shoots and Sausage...

Cauliflower and Bellpepper with Shrimpies...

---

I don't even know why I made so many dishes when only 3 of us ate. I really was tryin' to go to Shimmy Mondays but after all that waiting room regulatin' and lack of sleep, then makin' dinner - I was wiped out. But Yah I think he likes me. Bwaa hahahhahhaa.

---

I was so bleary this morning and went into the shop early to hammer out some cakes and futz with my work plan for tomorrow. Jesse hella makes me laugh...It seems like lately all the handsome men are full of fun.

See below.

Bwaa hahahhahhahhaahhahhahhahahhaa.

22 Jan 2007: Hair's Longer, Heart's Stronger, Folk's "Wronger"

...Hair's Longer...

Yesterday I went to work positively exhausted...But I guess when people find you irresistable - what can you do, you can't be left to sleep. I had my hair in 2 nehru knots at the base of my skull, a toque on my head and chapstick on. Jesse walked in towards the end of me bakin' off almost 20 sheetpans of cake and futzing with some raspberry mousse cakes and tiramisu. I said Hi Jesse. He said Hahahahaha --- you look like shit. And let out this hearty laugh. I said leave me alone bro...how you gonna tell me that. He laughed even harder and said you tell me when I look like I'm hurtin' hahahaha. Everyone was laughing at me coz I was seriously dragging despite all the work I did. My mental was strong but my physical was questionable after about 7 hours.

I kept yankin' on my hair coz of my general exhaustion. It occurred to me that I missed my hair appointment. I was thinkin' of choppin' this all on Saturday and lettin' it fly to the wind and bringin' the "OG Sauce" back. I guess you forget for a reason. Besides...why not. It's easier to subtract than to add when it comes to hair.

Julian said you should braid it, it will grow faster. I said that's not the case with Asian Honey's...it grows faster when it's left free. He laughed hella hard and said - ah, thanks for answering my question without answering my question...I was wondering why you tie it up all the time. Clever.

But feel free to post your votes for Chop or Grow...

...Heart's Stronger...

We babysat for Bree and J.R. on Saturday because it was their anniversary. I am a strong believer that even though you love the kids sometimes you just have to go be yourselves and be a couple. It's not that you don't love them, it's just that you have to strengthen you individuality away from that parental role. Besides, those kiddo's are a joy.

When we drove up Julian went into the house and I lollagagged behind. Well I parked right in front of their house and I could see Julian carryin' little man and he was laughing and smiling with him and said,"Look Madden, who's that outside..." And Little Man pointed and squealed and clapped. Hahahha. Julian said,"Yes...your auntie..." I walked in the house and he ran right to me. I carried him for a bit and put him down and he pulled me to the stove and said, "HOT..." This mini pimp was tellin me to cook for his ass. Haaaaaaaa hahhahhaha. Don't think I didn't have some piroulines stashed in a pastry bag for him - coz I did --- Bwaa haahha. Later that night I was askin' Bree and J.R. if there would be a problem at the B-Y-E...they weren't sure. So as they were walkin' towards the door we were all spellin' B-Y-E...and I was tryin' to fake carry him into the kitchen and he turned to look and said BYE BYE. Bwaa hahahhhaa.

It was an awesome night. I spent majority time with Little Man and Julian spent majority time with the Little Princess. Someone was really enjoying playing house. Funny thing is after our friends had gone to dinner they called and said they were just coming back to hang out and tilt some back with us coz they really enjoyed our company. You know basically what I'm sayin' is that I have new friends now. Coz when the little ones call me auntie - and the parentals are sayin' oh Yah you're an auntie now - game over, we're all friends. It's so comfortable there...hangin' out and laughin' and talkin...the kids squealing and jumping coz there's just happiness in the air. No expectations just fabulous company.

I know it's all good when his very good friends tell me that they've never seen him like this or this happy in the whole time he's lived here. I know it's all good when they tell me that I have a good guy coz he's done this and this or done that. I know it's all good when they tell me I'm the only girl he's ever brought in the house to meet them and the kids the whole time he's been in Arizona. It is all GOOD.

There hasn't been any room for error.

Then again why would there be errors with a man who refuses to fail.

...Folk's "Wronger"...

Mom is here from overseas and she's been a bit sick for the last few days so I took her to the Urgent Care joint coz she has no doctor here.

First of all why do the receptionists ask you the same question over and over. I finally turned to them and said ,"no...for the 3rd time --- since your asses can't pay attention." Yup that fixed it.

Second of all why do they make you fill out an online pre symptom form thing when you know they are just going to ask you the same thing in the examining room? So I asked the receptionist and she had no answer...perhaps because her BEHEMOTH ass was shovin' a 12 inch quizno's in her face instead of helping people. Watch your triple chin girl.

HEY, if you don't like people don't go into healthcare you ASSHATS.

Third of all...why is the only Asian lady in the room wearing some Gucci Stunna shades and some passable bling on the finger....well --- why are her children rockin pajamas, snot trails to their CHINS and bedhead nest on the back of their heads at 11am. WOMAN - pull your shit together. Then she had the nerve to look over at mom repeatedly coz mom was damn near passin' out in the chair. Well I always stand behind mom like a body guard and I ain't stuntin'...After about the 4th time - I leaned forward towards the Asian lady and said,"I WISH YOU WOULD LOOK AT MY MOTHER ONE MORE TIME..." She moved her chair a bit to the right. I'm so happy she had an instinct for survival.

About 250 bucks later we were out of there. About 130 bucks later we were out of the pharmacy. I stopped for gatorade, energy drinks and some other random stuff. I also stopped for some chicken strips. Those bahhhhtches were on one too...lookin' at me crazy coz I asked for ranch.

HEY -- if you don't like people don't go into food service Bahhtches.

...More "Wronger" part deux...

Remnants of the past. They haunt us all don't they. This is the funny thing - It is so inane that it makes me laugh when the people who screw up FEEL they are entitled to anger or position in your life. You aren't entitled to shit. Take that egocentric manmade drama and put it in the trunk (IF yo' ass got a car)...but yah put it in the trunk and take it 2 exits down - away from me.

If you are the one who went wrong - don't act like an amnesiac...don't let get selective amnesia and think you have a right to anything. Damn, I wouldn't even let my dog fart on your face, because my dogs have training which is much more than you can say for people.

If you think anyone pities you - they don't hunny.

If you think people are laughin' at you - they prolly are. Coz you gave away your body or body parts as easily as free samples at Costco. No one really has to call you a dumbass - you got a tshirt and a shotglass.

If you think you were the best thing ever...really you were just a 2 for 1 dollar candy bar to pass the hunger until the realness came on a platter.

If you think you can book someone a guilt trip - you ain't no travel agent.

If you think I'm crackin' up and fallin' out my chair right now...well, at least you are right about that.

If you think you can approach two positives with rotating force...be prepared to lose some extremities. It's a warning for you to curb your ego - because really grasping at straws is not so cute.

My boy told me today..."oh boo Hoo Sauce...it's tough being fabulous." He's like do you disagree? I said I neither agree nor disagree. I simply exist. He laughed and replied,"Spoken like a truly exquisite woman who is modest and of quality..."

'nuff said.

18 Jan 2007: Groove Candy...Groovy Kisses...Goody Food Mob

Category: Blogging

First of all Happy Birthday Brothuh Dumpsey - I have your birthday cheesecake, just not goin' out tonight since I got up at 6am and spent the better part of the day at work. Nuthin' but love for you baby.

...Groove Candy Recap...

About a week ago - Wendy, Grime and I smeared out to Groove Candy for a little night out. Wendy and I are super horrible at watching the time once we start yappin - and especially after we haven't seen each other for a week and stuff. Nonetheless. It was a fun night. Kind of odd though - Wendy and I get EYEHUMPED a lot and that night I was pretty cool with hiding beside Wendy in the Booth. I was a verbalistic misfit with quite a few guys - but so what! It just cracks me up how dudes think they can wave you over and you're gonna walk over there - YAH right...All you are getting from me is the Kung Fu cut your throat sign language. Okay!!!

Here are the pics that ensued.

No one told me that was the "finger" picture!!!

Double Trouble Yaddadaheard?

---

Let me tell you. I have never seen more men in one concentrated area capable of feelin' themselves. Well don't lie to yourself you Jon B and John Legend Wannabees. Your heads are so big your ears clap and I thought I was watchin' the sequel to DUMBO. Bwaa hahaha. Just hilarious. I like how people ask other people if they know who Wendy and I are. Thanks - that's just ALL the more reason to point at you and LAUGH. My absolute favourite was the guy who practically jumped in front of Wendizzle's car tryin' to get her attention - WUT!

Carlie is great - 'nuff sed.

So after Groove Candy we stopped for funky food and stayed up talkin' til 5am. I love that comfy bed and slept super well - especially after I discovered the "ocean" setting on that fancy shmancy little alarm clock/mp3 dock. Of course the boyfriend called early in the morning from his business trip and I couldn't be mad coz I was so happy to hear his voice. My 2 friends were sleeping happily - so I got up and threw my cheffin' gear in the washing machine and made them a bomblette, and left a myspace message.

Andouille Sausage, Green Onion, Tomato and Colby Jack.

Of course I ended wakin' my girl up anyway coz I needed face moisturizer and I wanted to hug everyone hello. hahaha. I was like Rise and Shine - bomblette's are on. Hahahhaa - they hadn't even heard me stirrin' around the house and shit. Awesome. It's all love in that house. Believe me when I tell you it's time for a slumber party SOOOON.

...on Groovy Kisses...

I like the time we spend apart...it makes you love the time spent together. I adore that he is absolutely fearless and driven. There are no small moments everything is Major. I like the witty repartee...the street edged teasing...the fundamental conversations...the exchanges over meals. His manners are impeccable ALL THE TIME. Everyone I've introduced him to has found him charming with that contagious smile of his. Shit who am I kiddin' --- I think he's charming and I see him almost every day... I suppose this is the difference between building versus old fashioned falling.

Other's may have written me poetry, but none of them existed poetically. He exists poetically.

Alfie said there is a concept of transferring energy and the energy put forth in preparing a meal is also the energy that nourishes the body...that it's NOT just the nutrients and minerals involved. I had always noticed in the past when I cooked mad everything went wrong. That right THERE is why I do not cook when I'm angry, irritated or irate. That is why I think giddy, fun, happy love thoughts while I cook. That is why I will only cook for those whom I love and/or care about. That is why I focus on every meal like it's going to be the best one I'll make ever even if it's just eggs. That is why I'm learning to look at every cake I make as if I'm makin' it for someone I know. Because bitterness like sweetness can be transferred.

Once a week I voluntarily make family dinner for the team at work. This is out of pocket for Jesse and I. Jesse is one of the managers and he's the dopest cat ever. He's from solid family stock, driven, handsome, uber-intelligent while unbelievably clever and my rock at the shop. He keeps me grounded and when shit fell down last year he told me in a firm brotherly voice,"You are stronger than that girl - Stay up..." I have a natural bond with him, he is truly my brother now - and family meal is one of our weekly rituals. Tonight it was a chicken cream soup with potatoes and veggies (no pic - too blah)...however, since Jesse bought so much chicken - I made him an almond chicken with jalapeno, green bellpepper and red onion...to take HOME. Hahahha - If you all have never had food love...you don't know what love is. See below.

...it makes me laugh when the kiddo's send me text messages when they aren't even workin' askin' if it's family dinner night. Hahahha. You know if you're hungry I'm feeding your happy ass.

...my dishes are becoming more creative. Last night for a side I made steamed then carmelized yams sauteed with roasted bellpepper and grape tomatoes then drizzled with sesame oil and some salt. I feel a bit of a challenge with Julian's appetite. He is SO not picky. I only know 2 other people who love vegetables and produce as much as he does...so it makes me want to do unconventional combinations that surprise him. I love it when his eyes get really big and he's like WOW...you did it again. That's the thing about people who enjoy and embrace life...they are willing to dive into uncharted flavors. This is going to be fun.

**hey Wendy - you hungry yet**

...it's funny. I cook way more now than I have at any other time I've lived here in the desert. I love watching my friends and Julian get that excited look as the food is ready or being tasted. It's like a childlike excited GLEE. I laugh way too much these days. There's just a lot of love everywhere ALL the time. Now that I'm happy I find myself surrounded by happy people and smiling is natural. I love the noise and chatter and happy sounds of people lingering over a meal or me cooking. If only everyone had the Ooh's AND Aah's.

People should be kissed and hugged and loved and looked upon with the shiny eyes of happiness. It's like watering seeds...it'll just make you grow.

16 Jan 2007: Oooh I think he likes me...

Oooh I think he likes me...Julian's godbebe that is.

I met the godbebe for the first time on Christmas Eve and bein the smart kid he is he was a bit standoffish with me and just looked at his Uncle Jules with total love and happiness in his eyes. I met him the second time on New Year's Day for the NY's Day Luncheon - I think we became "friends" after he got that fried rice. Then yesterday we all hung out, over beef dishes and conversation.

Little man was so sick yesterday but still in good spirits. He was still runnin' around throwin' a football and laughin. He wanted to be picked up and jumped back and forth between me and Julian. The funniest thing I saw was after he ate the beef fried rice - he picked up his sippy cup of juice and walked over to the living room where Julian and JR were and set his cup on the end table and sat on the sofa. Then this not even 2 year old little man put an arm on the sofa looked right to his godfather and looked left to his dad and just leaned into the cushions. Bwaa hahahha - I almost fell out laughing - except the look on his face was like YAHHH I'm leanin'...

---

He always says my eyes look like rosepetals...Do they?

---

I don't remember pillow talk bein' this intelligent...

---

Yesterday was a perfect day. Sunny and cold, zippin' down the highway in doppio with the biggest smiles on our faces - doing some shopping, grabbin' a gelato (erm - how does he charm the pants off ALL people), pickin' up some navel oranges and banana chips for little man...then dinner and kickin' back with friends. It wasn't what we did - it was the demeanor in which we did it. It's crazy how contagious happiness is.

I must say after we left the shop and the coffee joint - I later got a text that said,"Homeboy is hot! Good job on that one!" Bwaa hahahha. See the girls don't play, they will just say. Oh this will be hot topic for a minute. hahhahha. Two striking people can't help but walk around smiling.

Just when I think happiness is level - the bar rises.

14 Jan 2007: Bomblette's Trois...the third episode

Bomblette's went fabulously...

Although - I did miss my WEndiZZLe and Grime-y. I also missed my fabulous Diosa who was feelin' under the weather but whom I sent a bomblette plate via the Hydacious. I feel like I hadn't seen Hydacious in way too long. Blurred but True. (see below)

The premise...you call it omelettes plus roasted potatoes and grimey french toast that don't need syrup. The produce guy is fabulous and I'm gonna be a permanent fixture at his farmer's market.

I can never stop sayin' what a JOY it is to be around Gya...

It's tough bein' full of food...but this time LT din't give me shit for givin' him too small of a plate and even laced me with 2 faboo cd's for my work joints. Thank you LT!

The flow of dopely deep conversation and mimosa's in combination with bomblette's led to goodbye's to take naps. Holla at Mr. Mesi and Senor Mattx in Calie - you'll get bomblette's too.

---

...funniest phone call ever...

Julian: How's bomblette's

Me: Still goin (told him what was bein' grubbed)

Julian: I'm jealous, do I have to hear this now?

Me: Okay I'll be nice

Julian: Tell everyone I said hey whassup and thanks for enjoying my girlfriend while I'm on a business trip...

Me: I'm not tellin' them that shit - they enjoyed me before you got promoted to boyfriend...

Julian: *laughs*

I spent the better part of the night at Katie's visiting and catching up. I'm a little torque'd and thinkin' about things. I should be in bed but I'm not. I'll pay the piper tomorrow...but for now my brain has stuff to chew on.

13 Jan 2007: Stuff I Kinna Miss...

...More Like Stuff i REALLY Miss...

SHORT HAIR. I miss my short hair. I started growing out my hair for one of my best girls weddings last summer. I've probably gotten it cut 7 times since but it's hitting my back now. Now I'm entrapped by the convenience of the ever evil pony tail. I have to admit there are days I'm like Damn, my mane is bonkers sexy - but most days I miss the freedom and ease of having low maintenance funky hair.

APRIL. and gigging with her and norae bang and soju and stuff...

MEESH. shoe whorin' cookin' coffee talkin' and all that stuff...

MR. MAN. I didn't think 5 or 6 days could be so long.

JT. Come back already.

LEISURELY DAYS ON THE COAST. I miss the scent of that salty air and knowing where the best bookstores and eateries are. I miss the sound of the sea otters barking and the long sound of boat horns.

YAY FAMILY MAYHEM. I miss the crazy fun of just bein' around everyone that is everyone to me. I like how we randomly laugh and how we all laugh in that similar cadence.

GODBEBE's. I miss them. They are growing up too quickly and I'm apprehensive they aren't getting the proper cookie intake like a godmommy should be providing. That and the quirky wisdom's that should be imparted by me. Sigh.

RANDOM ROAD TRIPS. Like to the Grand Canyon. Just because.

THE OLD BEAUTY. The old beauty of what I used to make.

BEAUTIFUL CHALLENGES. Like the sugar joints we used to make.

SUNDAY BARBECUES WITH THE COUSINS. 'nuff said.

TIME TO BUY ART. I've got my eye on 2 pieces and actually already talked to one of the artists and haven't even got around to droppin' the cash. It's just ridiculous when you have the money and no time.

SLEEPIN' IN 2 DAYS IN A ROW. In the last month or so I've slept in maybe 1 day. Even on my days off I'm up and at it doing whatever. For the last 4 months it's been a nonstop grind of workin', being out of town or out ON the town, entertaining, or just handling daily living. I used to be able to sleep in...I'm wondering - when did I let that leisure go?

NIGHTLIFE BALANCE. I missed the KRS-one show tonight. I am simply slammed and in demand. I am not falling behind in what I do because I actually have TWO extra pairs of hands helping me --- it is simply a matter of demand and popularity right now. I actually think I am busier than during the holidays. The thought of making Valentines sweets is kind of filling me with dread.

---

I can't say that everything isn't good, coz actually it's great. By no means am I complaining. I'm just stoooopide happy. Perhaps when you are happy you remember. You remember other things that make you happy. Happiness has recently become exponential and I can't even SPEAK on how amazing all my friends have been - near AND far. I couldn't even EXPLAIN the kind of amazing journey I'm taking with Julian. The hilarity of all this is --- is just when you get a personal life --- you suddenly get hella busy. I'm blessed on all facets of this diamond encrusted life. I just wish I had room for a little more. I just need more time in the day. I just want to accomplish more and do more and see more.

I'm no longer who I was.

I am who I should be.

09 Jan 2007: It was just...sp"UH"ghetti

If you are having problems with the can opener and can't open the tomato sauce - please don't let Julian approach with a meat tenderizer! Bwaaa hahaha I had to stop THAT with the quickness while Jay quickly walked away to protect himself from potentially flying tomato sauce.

Bwaaaaaa hahahha.

I must say Julian endured all the shit we gave him for that. And he actually endured it with a good sense of humor. He was like you two didn't even know what I was gonna do with the meat tenderizer. I was like,"all I saw in my head was tomato sauce on the walls and ceiling that we would be cleaning..." Jay added,"THAT is why I moved back here quickly..."

---

...on little things...

So last night he was doing his laundry in that distracted manner that he does. He actually suggested calling in dinner since I was feeling under the weather but not haltingly sick. I said NO. He said WHY NOT. I said it's simply not cost effective to order in dinner - especially after you bought all those groceries. He said Okay. How easy was that?

But seeing to how I was fighting being sick - I decided on spaghetti, since there was extra sauce I also made ziti plus some butter sauteed broccoli with colby jack cheese. I was slicing and dicing and sautee-ing. It's funny, when I got there all the dishes had already been done and put away. Actually, the truth is...Julian more often than not cleans while I'm cooking so there is no mess lurking about. Impeccable home training. I like the conversations we have while dinner is being made. Sometimes I find it a bit shocking that someone as handsome as he is can be so conversational and participatory. Sometimes we even debate on certain issues and when I get all bent he makes this face at me and says Don't smile Sauce don't smile. You knucklehead! You know that's just gonna make me smile.

Well last night I was babysitting the pasta sauce and noodles because I'm adjusting to their superhot stove and Julian came up behind me to give me a hug. He was being affectionate (per usual)...and commenting on how good everything smelled. He was also sayin' how Jay told him,"your girl is the bomb man..." I laughed and said Jay only said that coz Italian food is his favourite. Bwaa hahahhaa. Julian disagreed with me and agreed with Jay sayin' well you ARE. We were just standing in the kitchen talking and laughing and hugging. "Turn the heat down on that...let me hold you for awhile..." We both knew a 3-5 day business trip was coming and it would be productive time spent apart. It's still full of tender wonder.

I caught our reflection in the window...nothing tells more than the body language of two people who really dig each other. I also caught a girl walkin' to her car lookin' up at our 2nd story window, I saw her smile and get into her vehicle. Even strangers smile upon us.

I have a lot more to say - but the last week has been exhausting. I'm makin' changes this year and now I'm payin' the piper. So I'm off to bed with a goodnight call from you know who and falling stars in my eyes.

How can something so new seem so familiar?

07 Jan 2007: Gangsta Noodles

Hosted by the fabulous Miss Vee and Mister B...at their crib in Tempetown. The whole concept of noodle bowls started for me when someone said to me long ago,"BUT WHAT CAN YOU REALLY DO WITH RAMEN..." Bwwaa hahaha Take a Seat Son - coz you're about to see. So I make a "few" sides...some parboiled and fresh veggies. You boil the ramen - put it in a bowl without broth - then you top it with your selections and then bathe your bowl in broth. At that point you can either start eating or top with hot sauces, sesame oil and or more veggies.

Here's a Peek at what went down.

Sauteed Cabbage with White Onion

Fresh Sugar Pea Sprouts

Sugar Pea Sprouts with a touch of soy and sesame oil

Ginger Beef with Bamboo Shoots and Bell Pepper

Garlic Baby Bok Choy with Oyster Sauce

Shrimp with Green and Yellow Bell Pepper

Quick thrown veggies with water chestnut

Yes children there is more than 1 kind of Sriracha.

Just a chicken stir fry joint

Don't be mad...bwaa hahhaha. First time I've seen Wendizzle since she went back home for the holidays - Grrr - the rice calls. I love Mattx shock face and Grimey's concentration.

Phat E bailing en route to a dj gig. Full of food and other stuff.

Crash gettin' his leftovers on...

Brandon, Mattx & Breez...gettin ready for the midway elimination rounds on the X Box and Stuff...

Looks Like Grime's got the Prize --- WUT!

You know I brought my girl the coco soy juicebox. She's the best date ever! RECO-KNOW-DAT.

What do you all know about Hello Kitty Ramune Drinks!

K-zo doin' his best to love the cookie...Yes everyone, they actually convinced me to make cookies - GYA put that one in the universe (why don't I have pics of Gya and Breez and Me.) No sooner had she said it, and Vee had all the ingredients...well no sooner was it said than it was done. Cookies and Cordials' all around...Then Wendy won the battle rounds and outchamped all the boys in Street Fighter - WUT. Thank you B and V for being always gracious and positive and full of light. Thank you Jaden for being called by the scent of baking cookies and coming downstairs with a big eyed smile. Thank you Mattx for your perfect bowls. Thank you Gya for just lingering and helping. Thank you everyone for everything big and small...

The only thing missing was Julian - but what can you do, when work isn't really work, it's not so bad to do it all the time. We still many food gigs coming throughout the year. And Wendizzle did suggest a housewarming gig at the boys joint. Big fun.

My amazing shock at coming home this morning. My sisters dogs eating about 75 bucks worth of oil paint and smearin it on the carpet - yucky. Someone told me not to be mad because they just miss me coz i'm hardly ever around. It's hard to not be mad, but he was right.

Crap.
