19 Feb 2007: i am NOT on a soy milk tetra pak carton

I know I know...I've been missing for a week. But that ain't my face on the organic Soy Milk Carton. Everything has been really bonkers and I actually managed to catch a cold in the last few days. The hostess with the mostessest (the fabulous 7th letter) was also a touch under the weather. Hence Bomblette's Brunch is moved to this upcoming Saturday. I will also be bringing a birthday cake for Crash - so someone better bring the Bailey's. So mark your calendars Saturday the 24th of February...if you are bringing anything or would like to bring anything tell Gya or Myself.

Chicken with Sweet Potato and Cabbage.

...I rarely go out to eat that much with the exception of the Diner, Korean food, Pete's Fish and Chips, Bobby Q, and of course the Ninja Sushi lately. This is the thing...I've finally lived here long enough to find a really awesome produce guy (hey Fred) - with a beautiful Farmer's Market in Guadalupe --- walkin' in there is a feast for your eyes and an enjoyable visit everytime. I will dedicate a future blog to that. I've also found a great butcher and fish monger. So now makin' meals is the only way to go. I'm not going to go so far as to say that I'm cooking macrobiotically or even organically - but we have managed to squeeze in 6 portions of fruits and veggies per day.

...Julian laughingly called his shirt young coz the sleeves and shoulders of his favourite dress shirt were tight. And don't let me talk about those dress slacks. I covered my mouth so I wouldn't laugh out loud. He said I can see your eyes laughing. I told him - people would kill for that metabolism of yours...everything he eats is turning into muscle. You would think that he works out all the time with that physique...but does 100 pushups every few days really count? I told him it's funny...you are just eating what my family would call "regular" food --- I haven't even started fortifying it with herbs and roots. He just laughed and said,"I'm growin' kid" Bwaa hahahhaa.

I've never seen anyone repulsed by fast food but he is.

...that's no joke though. Rocky's brother who is like 24 yrs old went overseas for a few months and came back 2 inches taller. Katie's brother who is like 6'9" just grew an inch and a half at age 29. I think that if you eat homecooked and heart forged meal and you still have residual HGH in your system it is very possible to continue growth. So is it the combination of hard food and soft enzymatic food plus the energy you pour into it while you cook? Is it understanding what your body needs and flirting with menu's. I dunno...It's not science to me --- I kind of approach it how a dj approaches a dancefloor - freestyle with a good solid background in your classics. They burn on the turntables and I burn on the stove. Feel me?

...on Valentine's related stuff...

I made a cake for my boyfriend. Neopolitan gelato (erm: chocolate, strawberry and roasted almond). I also threw some chocolates I'd made for him specifically...coz he played his cards right and he's deceptively angelic...hahhaha

Cake Detail...

Picture of Mr. Man ever so tickled with his cake...

I'mma adjust the flash setting even though us brown people need high flash.

...Truth be told I must really dig him a LOT...coz I was makin' quite a few cakes throughout the week but I already had his cake in mind. I never made a real cake for my exes. It's funny but my friends would often get cakes way before my ex who was generally unappreciative of them anyway so why bother. He would often just grunt his thanks and go do whatever he felt like doing. But with Julian everything is fun and exciting even if it may have been a mundane task already done in the past. But yeah...I survived the Valentines Cake Thang:

...I won't lie...after about 6 days of consecutive cakes I was totally burnt out on hearts and chocolate. Sometimes just the smell of sweets makes my belly ache and I yearn for the earth scent of barbecue or tepanyaki grill. Still...it was touching to see men ordering these heart shaped cakes and putting a LOT of thought into what they were selecting for their wife/girlfriend. This applied to the forever married and the newly married: It was so sweet to see that contemplative look wash over a person's face as they made their choice. The day after Valenteezy Day..a couple of the customers came in to compliment me and ask about length of storage...a couple of them called to say thank you and i did a wonderful job. That's okay with me..that's a lot better than Hate Mail. haha. When a woman in her 50's can throw you a thank you with a youthful girlish look on your face - you are doin' your shit right...

...on the time I ate some humble pie...

So a couple days prior to the above pic being taken...One of the managers hands me a form and leans in and says okay Kid...this is the deal - blue writing and red icing - tiramisu on bottom and roche on top. I was just baffled. I looked at him like DUUUUUUDE...how am I going to make red and blue and brown and white work without it lookin' all 4th of July...He's like Make it happen you are good at this shit. I kept thinkin' maybe the party has a theme, maybe those are his favorite colours...I usually get bored of tryin to think shit up after about a day coz something else has caught my mental interest.

I don't walk around thinkin' I have the market cornered on taste yanno.

Day after the cake is picked up the lady who ordered it called to thank us and spoke to me specifically. Very very sweet lady and that was a great surprise because she is also very attractive. It was humbling for me to hear how much everyone enjoyed it and she looked forward to getting another for Father's Day for him. She also advised me that even though the cakes are a bit pricey and they aren't "rich and stuff" with 2 kids...it made me look at cake in another way through another set of eyes...she made monetary room to get her husband something good...it just goes to show that if it's the thought that counts then think a good thought.

...on Ninja Sushi...

The fearsome foursome were at it again...

Don't let your boyfriend do Sake Bombers on an empty stomach...

Bwaa hahhahahhahhahahha.

Do NOT mess with my friends...they are NOT playin'...

This one below is my fave. I love Wendy's Miss Asia Arizona Contestant pose: I didn't realize my skirt was a little young that night. haha

I miss my Wendizzle already coz she's whooopin' it up in Asia for Chinese New Years...Lunar Empress is on the move. She doesn't smear through hoods - she smears through continents, but she'll be back soon enough...My girl Leslie is comin' in April so you all better make way...Bwaa hahahha. My Korean Posse has it in the works for May - so you better pull your shell toes on boys...coz your feelin's are gonna get hurt. Also, my "sister" sister is comin with the Spring Flowers...so get ready for 6ft of beautiful pain. Arizona ain't ready. Believe THAT. I'm just laughin....so NOT ready...

...on Green means go...

I have to just say everything is full of joy lately. The sound of moving trains on a background of periwinkle sunrise. The silhouette of someone you love against half opened blinds. Piggyback rides in the house that are fast and dangerous. Surprises always surprises that make you round eyed then smile. Tokyo movies in front of 2 pairs of beautiful eyes. Laughter in all your waking hours even apart. Never running out of things to talk about. A helping hand and words that make you stronger. Strong outside and Strong inside. Strong apart yet a force together. Your friends telling you,"you all are sick, but I want that illness someday..."

Contagious.
