I'm so glad I don't live in this neighborhood.

some of you may know that we sold our previous house and bought a new one - during the process we stayed at my sisters and father in laws at various times to keep me in school.  My sister lives in a semi gated community and blah blah this shit that shit freakin HOA shit.  Well the new head of the HOA noticed my car in front of the house parked there and called to enquire about it...

My sister had called in to say that there is a problem from a nearby park where sewer roaches were going in the backyard and they should call the city to fumigate it.  Instead of being more concerned about that shit she pushed about my car.

Today she came by to check out a crack in the fence and said they can't do anything about it (my sister was out at costco)...she basically told us they wouldn't be fixing the common fence I was like cool have a good day get out...Then she inquired about the BMW and MINI cooper convertible in the front of the house...I said "oh people can't visit or what?"  She's like we just like to know what's going on.  I was like Shut the fuck up - Get out.  My sister will be home in one hour.

See this is exactly the kind of bullshit that pushed us to find an older home in an established neighborhood so I wouldn't have to deal with dumbasses.

I hate first time homeowners who think it's their business to police the neighborhood.

    1. a couple of years ago one of my supervisors was moved by the company to my plant. part of the comp. package was they would sell his house and find him a new one, kinda neet if you can get them to do this.
the new house was, unknonst to my boss, in a HOA neighborhood....and he didn't read the fine print, he just signed on the dotted line and moved in.
shortly after moving in, his neighborhood was hit by one of kansas' famose hail storms, and his roof needed repair. he negotiated the best deal he could, and oh by the way, i want white shingles.
when the roof was compleated, he was informed the HOA required slate grey shingles...you have to redo the roofing....he refused..hge was then told he would either have slate grey shingles, or he would have to sell the house.

the next weekend, a bunch of us painted his house.....pink with purple polka dots...and he listed it with a local realator....for 3 million $$$.

needless to say, the house didn't sell...and there was not a thing the HOA could do except back down and let him keep his white shingles..if he repainted the house......

6 months later the HOA was disbanded....because everyone threatened to paint theri house pink with purple polka dots and list it for 3 mill. if they didn't get permission to do what they wanted.

  3. HOA's are no better than the people in power that want to tell you what to eat, when to eat, and how many squares you can use after using the toidy! PRE-VERTS!
Sicko's that seem to think we need to be told like 4 year olds what we can and cannot do, and with no viable explanation for their decisions...( eg: Chuck Schumer/Bloomberg)

  4. No way I could live in one of the prisons. I live in an old neighborhood in New Orleans and afer Katrina we had a lady deciding she wanted to start a "neigborhood assoication" I was cool with that but then she went futher and started calling the police to give tickets to cars parked facing the wrond direction or parked too close to driveways. I got a ticket for blocking my own driveway! Soon enough nobody was going to her assocation meetings or renewing their membership. We had to shut that b down! My hose is blue by the way, it has a pretty wrought iron fence around the front and I didn't have to ask anybody's permission before I painted it or put the fence up!

  5. We've been trying to move and all the nicer looking houses are in HOA neighborhoods.
As PRETTY as I think those houses are -- IM NOT MOVING INTO A NEIGHBORHOOD WHERE MY NEIGHBORS ARE ABLE TO TELL ME WHAT TO DO WITH THE PROPERTY I AM PAYING ON!
EVERY TIME when I look and see HOA dues on the thing I skip off to another house.
Our existing house was a foreclosure built in 1964 or something. While I'd like one of those NEW houses -- I just can't bring myself to conform to it.

    1. I paid many many years of HOA fees and I was just sick and tired of it. We picked a nice street where the houses are well maintained and so are their yards - around the block there are some people that don't do as much but we do not regret it.

I'm happy you can't bring yourself to conform :)

  6. My parents owned a house in a HOA community and the president of the HOA embezzled all the HOA dues money. Never lived in one again!
