20 Feb 2007: Auntie Saucy in the Freakin' House

My "Little" sister just told me I'mma be an auntie again in October. Ahhhhh Fabulous. I'm so very excited...My big grill will live on in those kiddo's.

My sister and the first godbebe EVER...

Trick or Treat gimme Mochi to eat...

My little brother Lee with the youngest one...I can't believe Lee is a chef now...how'd we go from being little kids walkin' around Ocean Beach and Pacific Beach to cheffin' it up in the West/Southwest...

Tank...stuntin' at his best. He reminds me so much of Rommel when we were little especially with that Bruce Lee hair and those teardrop shaped eyes and if you could only see the mischievous leaps he does and crazy laughter...it's like he's a livin' picture of our older brother. The girls ain't got a chance.

I see you guys have been kickin' it at Archie's Diner...I love my godbebe's hardface...but that could just be my vanity kickin' in.

---

June will be here soon enough and we will take a little trip to Sedona and Havasu...in my crazy sister and crazy brother in laws "PASSENGER" van with massage seats and dvd screens. Bwaa hahahha. I hope they like Kung Fu...coz that's what I'm watchin...

Family really is forever...

19 Feb 2007: i am NOT on a soy milk tetra pak carton

I know I know...I've been missing for a week. But that ain't my face on the organic Soy Milk Carton. Everything has been really bonkers and I actually managed to catch a cold in the last few days. The hostess with the mostessest (the fabulous 7th letter) was also a touch under the weather. Hence Bomblette's Brunch is moved to this upcoming Saturday. I will also be bringing a birthday cake for Crash - so someone better bring the Bailey's. So mark your calendars Saturday the 24th of February...if you are bringing anything or would like to bring anything tell Gya or Myself.

...on homecookin' versus takeout...

Jalapeno Ham Fried Rice

Chicken with Sweet Potato and Cabbage.

...I rarely go out to eat that much with the exception of the Diner, Korean food, Pete's Fish and Chips, Bobby Q, and of course the Ninja Sushi lately. This is the thing...I've finally lived here long enough to find a really awesome produce guy (hey Fred) - with a beautiful Farmer's Market in Guadalupe --- walkin' in there is a feast for your eyes and an enjoyable visit everytime. I will dedicate a future blog to that. I've also found a great butcher and fish monger. So now makin' meals is the only way to go. I'm not going to go so far as to say that I'm cooking macrobiotically or even organically - but we have managed to squeeze in 6 portions of fruits and veggies per day.

...Julian laughingly called his shirt young coz the sleeves and shoulders of his favourite dress shirt were tight. And don't let me talk about those dress slacks. I covered my mouth so I wouldn't laugh out loud. He said I can see your eyes laughing. I told him - people would kill for that metabolism of yours...everything he eats is turning into muscle. You would think that he works out all the time with that physique...but does 100 pushups every few days really count? I told him it's funny...you are just eating what my family would call "regular" food --- I haven't even started fortifying it with herbs and roots. He just laughed and said,"I'm growin' kid" Bwaa hahahhaa.

I've never seen anyone repulsed by fast food but he is.

...that's no joke though. Rocky's brother who is like 24 yrs old went overseas for a few months and came back 2 inches taller. Katie's brother who is like 6'9" just grew an inch and a half at age 29. I think that if you eat homecooked and heart forged meal and you still have residual HGH in your system it is very possible to continue growth. So is it the combination of hard food and soft enzymatic food plus the energy you pour into it while you cook? Is it understanding what your body needs and flirting with menu's. I dunno...It's not science to me --- I kind of approach it how a dj approaches a dancefloor - freestyle with a good solid background in your classics. They burn on the turntables and I burn on the stove. Feel me?

...on Valentine's related stuff...

I made a cake for my boyfriend. Neopolitan gelato (erm: chocolate, strawberry and roasted almond). I also threw some chocolates I'd made for him specifically...coz he played his cards right and he's deceptively angelic...hahhaha

Cake Detail...

Picture of Mr. Man ever so tickled with his cake...

I'mma adjust the flash setting even though us brown people need high flash.

...Truth be told I must really dig him a LOT...coz I was makin' quite a few cakes throughout the week but I already had his cake in mind. I never made a real cake for my exes. It's funny but my friends would often get cakes way before my ex who was generally unappreciative of them anyway so why bother. He would often just grunt his thanks and go do whatever he felt like doing. But with Julian everything is fun and exciting even if it may have been a mundane task already done in the past. But yeah...I survived the Valentines Cake Thang:

Choco Peanut Butter...

Choco PB Cup Detail...

Last Minute White Choco Pieces on Choco Gelato

...I won't lie...after about 6 days of consecutive cakes I was totally burnt out on hearts and chocolate. Sometimes just the smell of sweets makes my belly ache and I yearn for the earth scent of barbecue or tepanyaki grill. Still...it was touching to see men ordering these heart shaped cakes and putting a LOT of thought into what they were selecting for their wife/girlfriend. This applied to the forever married and the newly married: It was so sweet to see that contemplative look wash over a person's face as they made their choice. The day after Valenteezy Day..a couple of the customers came in to compliment me and ask about length of storage...a couple of them called to say thank you and i did a wonderful job. That's okay with me..that's a lot better than Hate Mail. haha. When a woman in her 50's can throw you a thank you with a youthful girlish look on your face - you are doin' your shit right...

...on the time I ate some humble pie...

So a couple days prior to the above pic being taken...One of the managers hands me a form and leans in and says okay Kid...this is the deal - blue writing and red icing - tiramisu on bottom and roche on top. I was just baffled. I looked at him like DUUUUUUDE...how am I going to make red and blue and brown and white work without it lookin' all 4th of July...He's like Make it happen you are good at this shit. I kept thinkin' maybe the party has a theme, maybe those are his favorite colours...I usually get bored of tryin to think shit up after about a day coz something else has caught my mental interest.

I don't walk around thinkin' I have the market cornered on taste yanno.

Day after the cake is picked up the lady who ordered it called to thank us and spoke to me specifically. Very very sweet lady and that was a great surprise because she is also very attractive. It was humbling for me to hear how much everyone enjoyed it and she looked forward to getting another for Father's Day for him. She also advised me that even though the cakes are a bit pricey and they aren't "rich and stuff" with 2 kids...it made me look at cake in another way through another set of eyes...she made monetary room to get her husband something good...it just goes to show that if it's the thought that counts then think a good thought.

...on Ninja Sushi...

The fearsome foursome were at it again...

Wendy Stuntin' Sushi Style...

Sushi Detail...and my lovely extra wasabi ginger on the side

Don't let your boyfriend do Sake Bombers on an empty stomach...

Bwaa hahhahahhahhahahha.

Do NOT mess with my friends...they are NOT playin'...

This one below is my fave. I love Wendy's Miss Asia Arizona Contestant pose: I didn't realize my skirt was a little young that night. haha

I miss my Wendizzle already coz she's whooopin' it up in Asia for Chinese New Years...Lunar Empress is on the move. She doesn't smear through hoods - she smears through continents, but she'll be back soon enough...My girl Leslie is comin' in April so you all better make way...Bwaa hahahha. My Korean Posse has it in the works for May - so you better pull your shell toes on boys...coz your feelin's are gonna get hurt. Also, my "sister" sister is comin with the Spring Flowers...so get ready for 6ft of beautiful pain. Arizona ain't ready. Believe THAT. I'm just laughin....so NOT ready...

...on Green means go...

I have to just say everything is full of joy lately. The sound of moving trains on a background of periwinkle sunrise. The silhouette of someone you love against half opened blinds. Piggyback rides in the house that are fast and dangerous. Surprises always surprises that make you round eyed then smile. Tokyo movies in front of 2 pairs of beautiful eyes. Laughter in all your waking hours even apart. Never running out of things to talk about. A helping hand and words that make you stronger. Strong outside and Strong inside. Strong apart yet a force together. Your friends telling you,"you all are sick, but I want that illness someday..."

Contagious.

13 Feb 2007: On Valentines Eve...

Love in all it's manifestations...will always be heard and felt and known...

...on Family Love...

My family has always loved me even if they have never understood me completely. It wasn't always easy to love someone who's love affair was with the eccentric, the odd, the artistic and sometimes the strange. What they did know completely is that they believed that I would do what I needed to do and if I fell from attempting anything they were always there to renew my strength and smiles. What they did always show me was faith and belief that I am somebody. What they always expressed that I would always BE somebody.

And now I am.

...on Friends Love...

My Batches and my Boys...never discouraged but always encouraged. Some of them for only decades and some of them for only months. But the Love has always been immeasurable. Their presence isn't compared to bein in my heart but moreso as being a part of my spine. When people love you and metamorphosize from friends into a family of your own they are bonded to you. I love you all exponentially...

...on Career Love...

Finally, I am doing something I love. It was a long journey to switch from an IT gig to a creative gig but I regret none of it. Because of the love I've shown my work it is now loving me back. It is evident with how busy I've become.

...on Food Love...

Shaking heads, stuffed mouths followed by smiles and wordless mumbling, the scent of anything calling children from downstairs, anticipation of meals to be partaken and all the motions and emotions surrounding it - it's the other love I carry around me. Where before I cooked out of ethnic training and habit - now I cook out of genuine enjoyment and love. This is going to leak into all parts of my life...I feed you all coz I love you and not because I "should."

...on Self Love...

In the days prior to living poetically, I would "lose" myself in helping another. Now I am myself all the time and am never asked to be anyone else but ME all the time. Even that shmarmy smartass chick, or the demanding hello kitty lovin' girl, or the badass female with a stroll that could kill. Now I am just me and who could ask for anything more. I love myself without conceit - only with a desire to improve myself and the positive uptempo...

...on Romantic Love...

How could I resist?

When I first met Julian I shook him (I tried to shake him) off because I was a dating monster. I would walk out on dates if anything big or small displeased me and the feelings of whomever took me was irrelevant. He never did take that behaviour off of me and would laugh and say,"Quit playin' girl, come sit near me..." Ironically, he only invites me close to enjoy my verve. Everything we do is an adventure to him, a date, a walk, a talk, reading books side by side, shopping, eating out or cooking meals together. The amount of time we have been "together" is far surpassed by the communion we have together. How could you resist anyone who stops everything to dance with you. How could you resist anyone who doesn't fear potential anger. How could you resist anyone who laughs in the face of danger. How could you resist anyone who coated the hook he caught you with --- well, wiith sugar. How could you resist anyone who actively thanks higher powers for what you have together and what you have apart. How could you resist anyone who rises and sleeps with a smile on his face. How could you resist anyone who finds you beautiful even when you are asleep. How could you resist anyone who eggs you on to amplify your abilities while bringing his own.

As Suga Free says,"Don't no woman want no man who will roll over for her."

The other night we realized at a party that we knew each other by 2 degrees of separation. That even if we hadn't met at the Talib Kweli gig, it was only a matter of time before we met. Whoa.

What we got makes your stomach drop and your mind explode.

...on tomorrow...

So enjoy tomorrow everyone. In any way and everyway...because you may think otherwise but there is some kind of love in your life - and THAT should be celebrated. When you are doing what you are supposed to do and doing it with everything you've got - ultimately the rest of your life will follow.

03 Feb 2007: Momeezie Birthdeezie...hahahahha

Category: Blogging

Chocolate Ganache...it spins and swirls and you gotta rock it before it cools. Life is like that - plenty messy, absolutely deliscious and all about timing. Great timing will help you avoid the lumps and bumps. Recoknowdat...

Firstly...I want to say - I know I haven't written any blogs in awhile. I've been horrendously busy with work and totally captivated by my boyfriend. I will deny neither. However things have settled down and you will all be seeing more of me soon. I've been a grumpy saucy little cuss lately...so those getting bruised by my scathing glares - I am sorry. For those that deserve it - I'm not so sorry.

Secondly...I had a bad day the other day and I also needed new jeans and stuff coz all my pants are starting to look "dookie lodged" hahaha. So this morning I got up and did my Fuze drink and walked about the house and then Mom and Keyla came home and said what are you doing...I said going to the Outlets coz it's the closest - and Mom said I will take you. What's she mean she's takin ME? She doesn't drive - what she meant was - take me in your convertible. hahaha. If you all thought I am Baucy...you haven't met the REAL boss. They say the turd doesn't fall far from the bird - and they are RIGHT. haha.

So three pairs of pants later, a vest, some shoes, a dope tee, some more bottoms and tops...a belt...some flip flops and I dunno other stuff we were off again. All I have to say that it is the February winter clearances - if you have an outlet mall near you - take your asses there...we made out like bandits at BcBg, polo, emannuel Ungaro, Levi's, Rack Shoes, Hurley and Boss. I mean seriously - I don't have trunk space in the MINI or I never would have left.

...on the Birthday girl number 1...

Happy Birthday Mommy...you have loved us through thick and thin...through awards ceremonies and emergency rooms...as you say,"you have a PH.D in troubled youth...and can write many thesis' on it" So now you were gleaming proudly over our little brown faces - coz we got YOU dinner. hahahha.

En route to the restaurant Bobby Q...I was fiddlin' with the cam...and my sister was playin' a little e 40.... I was a bit tired after a full afternoon of shopping - but it was a great day off and well worth it.

My photo homage to Empress Wendizzle Lee. It might be fuzzy but it's still sleeveless...we only coat up for fashion here in the desert.

I wonder what my boyfriends doin? Oh he's working. Mom had invited Julian to dinner but as usual he's working...

The thought of barbecue is just too exciting. Hey Alfie...I included this pic so you could see my tokidoki in the bottom left of the pic - **laughs**

Keyla drivin' to the barbecue spot

Mom doin' her Ooooh - e Feezie style. hahahhaha.

Rommel, Benjo, Mom and Keyla

Errybody...I told the server to hold still but NOOOOO.

Benjo and Rommel

Rommel and Mom...Mom always looks a touch happier with our handsome brother in the picture. This buffed monster of a brother I have was actually a preemie at one time and they din't even think he'd make it. He is truly the apple of Mommy's eye and I'm so not mad about it. They say that when he was born his thigh was the size of a chicken leg.

Lookin' kinna gangsta there Mommy...

My plate: St Louis Style Ribs, Baby Back and Brisket. There are no sides...I had a large garden salad with Blue Cheese to start. Don't Laugh. This is very serious business...me and barbecue have a love affair.

Benjo with Brisket, double ribs, mac and cheese plus shoestring fries. Observe my brother in the back not even giving a DAMN about pictures coz he's cuttin' into some beef ribs, grilled veggies and double brisket. hahaha.

Keyla with her own variation on a theme...Yup I ate some of those fries

Oh you thought I was playin??? That is MY plate. The only plate that got cleaned and I was being handed random St. Louis Style ribs from other peoples plates coz they couldn't HANG. I told you - me and barbecue have a love affair and if it wouldn't of embarrassed my brother I would have ordered another rack and just ate it at a leisurely pace. Bwaa hahahhaha

After dinner they have the nerve to hand you a bag of HOT baby donuts as a "thank Q" Bwaa hahahhaa. I'm not really a carb fan - but I did eat one of those cinnamon snickerdoodle tasting donuts. So yummy.

Walkin' to the parkin' lot with our guts bustin...I said take a pic of us Keyla - coz we don't have a pic in front of the new car....WHY did everyone say SHHHHHHHHHuuuuuTTTTTUP dude...I'm like huh

Everyone says Mom thinks it's the same car - be quiet or we're all in for the Asian lecture. Bwaa hahahha. Mom looked at me when I got in the truck and I said Hey mom you want a piece of gum?...Whew.

Keyla put on some more E-Feezie...and I caught them in reflectorily just singin' it up. Hahahhaa - good times good times.

...on Birthday Girl Number Deuce...

Happy Birthday to my other little Sister the Ube Princess...

I love you girl - get into somethin' Ignant in the Haystack...I wish we could have gone with you to the Carribean feast in the city. Stop blowin' those surprises that my wonderful brother in law tries to drop on your nosey ASS. Hopefully Julian and I will find our way to the Yay when we both aren't so busy Grinding...You are the maker of my first godchild and my fun ass nephews...but firstly you are my right hand when it comes to smooshin' icky faces that used to hit on us in all those San Diego Malls - Whaaat. hahhaha. Good Times...
