30 Nov 2007: Pancakes and Waffles

This morning I made wheat pancakes for Julian and the boys. There were 2 extra and I brought them to work in case I got hungry. Right when I walked in Gianni said the dude next door was havin a birthday and his employees wanted a cake with pancakes and waffles. Because he owns a breakfast joints that serve pancakes and waffles. Hahahahhaa. A gelato cake with pancake and waffle decorations. I said no problem I got some pancakes in my purse.

Bwaaahahahhahahha

We keep it pushin' in this beeyooootch even when you gotta improvise and freestyle. With that I'm OUT. I'm done with work and have to meet everyone for the Grime & Dead Prez Show...

Ciao.

29 Nov 2007: Love Abuse...Love Let Loose

Love Abuse...

Lately...I've been assaulted with those sugary words,"i love you." This absolutely gets on my nerves because it is a flippant use of a word combination that has significance. Well it has significance if it has equivocal value...which means if t has any kind of meaning to you - you will act LOVE as much as you SAY love. There are a few particular people who have said this to me to detract me from irritation or aggravation specifically for them. I finally said to one of them,"Do NOT say that to me anymore. Don't tell me you love me when you don't even love your OWN fuckin' ass - it gets on my nerves." He said,"really?" I said,"Deeply." Did I mention that I said this in a coffee house in front of a heap of people and in front of my barista bebe Cord? You know why...I embarrassed his dumb ass because it embarrassed me to have to listen to him say it for months. That was that and he learned his lesson.

A second example of ths annoying shit is someone sayin,"...But I love you Sauce..." I finally started retorting in a bored monotone,"No you don't - you love YOU..." and I stroll off.

Albeit I love strongly and fearlessly because that is one of my gifts, I do NOT care if people love ME. I do not care about the praise or approval of strangers, acquaintances, my friends or even my family. I only care that I meet my personal standards and that I exemplify the lessons of MY elders and the women who came before me. I am confident that I act in love towards those who matter, so everything else is irrelevant.

I keep my bullshit wipers brand spankin' new.

---

Love Let Loose.

We stunt separately and together. It is not unusual for Julian to play cards or hit the bar with the boys and neither is it unusual if I go stunting with Wendizzle. It is also normal for him to invite me out with his friends and vice versa. This kind of freedom "LOOSED" is new to me. It is not any form of babysitting but rather a genuine invitation and a sense of pride in 'showin off' the person you love.

What is the cutest thing is when he comes home and says,"Thank God I'm not single anymore - there's nuthin' but dummies out there..." or says,"Your man has mad game.." (bwaa hahahaha). More recently...I've been spending time at the North Phoenix house because Mom was in the country - and I'll disappear for 1 or 2 days and then meet him at his crib and he says,"I really missed you Bebe," and rain kisses and hugs and the biggest smile on his face. Some say that eventually the honeymoon is gonna be over - actually, I don't think it's even begun...He acts like he hasn't seen me in a year

26 Nov 2007: Great Comments to Date

...my playcousin Apple...

She is constantly telling me that she is so happy to see me and Julian together because we are always laughing and joking and sneaking in hugs throughout the day. She said it is nice to see that kind of thing coz it makes a woman giggle. I was so surprised to see her blog comment,"LIKE WHAT JULIAN TOLD ME HOW HE IS ALWAYS ON VACATION JUST BEING AROUND YOU!" Hahahha isn't that something.

It's nice to get that kind of surprise. When you've known someone for almost a year and then find out that they still enjoy your company and it's fun and exciting to them - like V A C A T I O N.

...my future sister in law Cbug...

She was sitting in Julians room studying and juggling her cell and qwerty keyboarded thingie. She has taken multi tasking to a WHOLE new level. Wendy and I were choppin' it up and laughing with Cbug about some random shit...and the topic of Julian's ex came up and Wendy made us ALL laugh. Well CBug had a FUNNY look on her face and said,"Well...I didn't like her." Wendy and I looked at each other and laughed. I tried to put a positive spin on it and said,"Well Hunny then you should be glad that your brother moved to Arizona because she didn't end up becoming your sister in law..." Wendy gave a sage and sassy nod. Carla kind of grinned and harummphed and said,"Oh no...it wouldn't have happened - I would have raised my hand in church and said I DISAGREE...and stopped the wedding" OMG. Wendy and I laughed our asses off...then CBug's phone rang and we left the room.

She later added,"My brother was ON one...none of those girlfriends he had amounted to SHIT. They were WORTHLESS...except YOU Saucy..." I just smiled and said AWWW. She said,"I'm not joking...that's the truth."

So I told Julian what she said about stopping the nuptials and he spit out his cocktail from laughing so hard. He said that's my baby sister. I was like you mean OUR baby sister.

...my OG Tempe Homie...

We were catchin' up over Thanksgiving Dinner and he looked at me and said,"Sauce...you look so happy. In just one year you've really become happier and better - I'm so glad it worked out for you girl..." I said,"Thank you Hunny...you saw everything I tried to do and how hard I worked and you KNEW." He said,"You deserve it Sauce...you deserved better"

...mr T. aka Grimey...

via text message..."I've never been so excited for Thanksgiving..." I love Mr. T...he is one of my favourite friends and foodie's. I love how he enjoys all the meals we share together big and small. It could be soft tacos and nachos or big ass holiday meals - but he always expresses excitement and appreciation! You have to love people who enjoy this life we have. He also observed how quickly the year passed and he is so glad to see that EVERYTHING has worked out for me because I am so obviously happy and I deserve it. Awwww.

...my Cheflette ass...

rude ass customer: Is there a reason you are being rude...
my cheflette ass: I'm not...--as i'm walking away--

...my Mom...

Comment 1.
I was askin' my Mom why she thought this girl was dating this guy who's not so cute. She laughed and laughed as we drove down the freeway to Macy's (Mom wanted Depuffing Action Eyegel from the Benefit Counter)...She was still steadily laughing as we approached the exit. I finally said,"What Mom..." She said in between hiccupped laughs,"Look at that thing you used to love...I bet you look at him and THROW UP now." I started laughing. THEN she added,"Okay maybe gagging a little in the back of your throat.." Bwaaa hahahahahhaa

Comment 2.
Mom says to me,"Oh I like your friend Wendy Lee...she knows how to charm people...she is so kyoote and charming huh." I said,"Of course Mommy..." Then I proceeded to tell her that Wendy has a crush on the Filipino spaghetti which is frighteningly sweet and includes HOTDOGS!!! Mom said,"Ohhh when I come back in March we will make that for Wendy!"

Comment 3.
Mom to Me. I think it is a good idea if you and Julian split the downpayment on the house in Tempe. I laughed. Mom,"...it's so nice to see a goodlooking man who works hard it is like getting a 2 for 1 deal haaaah."

I ain't sayin' shit. Bwaa hahahaha

Comment 4.
We were running around the mall picking up a few more things before she leaves in the morning...I was picking up a few shoes and boots trying to decide if I like them or not. EVERY SINGLE TIME I PICKED ANYTHING UP...here's Mom,"Gettit - let Mommy buy that for you." I would laugh and say Mom I'm just looking I don't know if I like it yet. Finally I let her get me some jeans. Then she started again trying to buy me stuff. I laughed and said,"MOM...I can buy my own stuff you know. I'm not a baby." She counter laughed and said,"but you ARE"

Hahahahahahaha. I love being me

...my sister Keyla...

My brother gave me a new digi cam so Mom said let me have your old one and I'll leave it at the country house. When I was switching the memory sticks I cleared the old pics. Well tonight I made fried rice and while we were eating I told my sister,"Hey! I was cleaning out the mem sticks and found a picture of your ex husband butt nekkid!" Everyone laughed. She said,

"
OH YEAH...I EMAILED THAT TO OUR CLASSMATES RIGHT BEFORE I DIVORCED HIS ASS."

Bwaa hahahahhaha

...Cord's dad to Me...

I just wanted to let you know that the cake we were given from ----- -- was beautiful but once you got into the cake it didn't taste like anything special. I laughed and laughed and told him,"Hey Dad...that cake sounds like a blind date to me..." Then HE laughed and laughed.

...my sauce protege Ben via text...

The day after Thanksgiving...

Ben: Are you bringing leftovers?

Me: There are NO leftovers at my house

Ben: OH GOD! HOW UNFAIR!

...me to Britney...

She was talkin' about how her boyfriend just wasn't the same anymore...just not the same as in the beginning. I told her this,"Here is something I have learned through experience:
In the naivete and optimism of youth you often mistake common interests as chemistry, it's not."

I hope she gets it. In the past I have dated men whom I thought I had things in common with but the base values conflicted. She gave me a look and I told her when I first met Julian I thought he was just a pretty eyed Romeo. I also told her that I had plenty of reservations because: I am artistic and he is athletic...I cruise through while he charges through...He likes to drink and I don't...I'm into cafe's and poetry while he'd rather golf...He likes comedies and I dig foreign flicks. However, our core values are almost identical. We have a specific view of what we want and we complement each other in entirety. What we discovered is that we have genuine chemistry...because despite all of our separate interests we have interest in each other. It is the difference in our interests which give what we have polarity. We remain interesting and fascinating to each other because what we have evolves.

ps) I love to cook he loves to eat...but that goes for My Gya and My Wendy too. So there's just more and more love to go around.

24 Nov 2007: Thanksgiving 2007 - Photo Blog

This is just your average Turkey Day Photo Blog...I have to admit that I'm still a bit exhausted because I worked non stop all the days before and the day of the celebration and the day after. But I'm well towards recovery after sleeping in and taking an impromptu nap at the insistence of my boyfriend.

This was our first Thanksgiving together as a couple. Because when we first met last year it was like a week after Turkey Day.

I must say that photo doesn't even look that bad considering I only got 3.5 hours of sleep and had been prepping all night and cooking all day and was wearing the only clean shirt I had left at the house coz all my favorite stuff is at Julians. hahahhahha.

This is how Julian takes 1 armed pictures instead of setting the timer...

Apple is an old pro at the one armed Photo as shown below - She has a reach longer than Shaq with that digi cam!

Here's CBug studying and relaxing while Furball Cleo stalks her. I looked at her notebook and all I have to say is that she is HARDCORE!!!

I think Mom and Keyla are talking to Auntie Julie in Louisiana

Here I am rockin' a broccolli casserole while Apple cooks up the bacon for the green beans and to top the devilled eggs...The kitchen destruction is almost complete at this point because I've already finished the pumpkin tarts and started the lemon bars. . You know there was a moment when Rommel was talking about working out and he started chopping it up with Julian about some gravity based resistance workout that was hella hard and they sat next to each other on the sofa and started chopping it up...and it occurred to me that I'd never seen ANY of my previous boyfriends just "choppin' it up" with my brother and I have to admit it made me smile. Coz...well...coz everything is golden.

Max and Cleo just adore Julian and follow him through every room. They also sleep in the doorway of any room he falls asleep in. I have no idea why they are always wearing tshirts - it's not like they are cold and shit.

..

You like that nice glow on our skin huh. It's called HOT KITCHEN!

This cupping the chin thing is kinna new kinna not...

Thank you Apple for being so fabulous and helping with every single thing and having such a great attitude and making everyone have fun...

Apple went on a photo rampage shortly after that.

Apple and Mom

Apple and Her Hubby Steve

More Apple and Steve

Apple and Keyla

Apple and Benjo...

---

You know I've been cooking for pretty long...but my years are hella few compared to Mom. So when she told me to adjust this on the pumpkin filling or to baste the turkey...or cover it with foil...or she cooked a different kind of noodle for the pancit - I listened and/or observed what she did. I'm so happy that Mom was here in AZ for Thanksgiving...just the Obvious reason that we miss her but also because it is humbling to be around someone who can help you improve at something you are already good at.

---

Time to yank the Turkey...well at least the first one

See Apple I told you brown people NEED flash...

Really...at least some LOW flash

Next thing you know it was time for Rommel to carve and platter the turkey...

I like how we're messing around "taking pictures" and Mom is steadily coaxing us to get the food ready. hahahhahhah

Below is one of my favourite pictures ever. We had all been joking throughout the day that my brother "EVICTED" me and my sister. My sister is moving to the West Valley into her rental and I am moving to Tempe. I told my brother - dang - I can't believe you are kicking me out! He laughed and said,"hey...I think 2 years rent free is enough..." I laughed harder and said,"Actually it's 3 if you count the time I was in culinary school..." He laughed even HARDER and said,"Oh I didn't even count that year..." Well before the picture below was taken I had said,"This is a last supper for me and my sister because we're EVICTED..." Everyone laughed. Then my brother added,"I am thankful" Bwaa hahaha and everyone laughed their ass off, well everyone except our sister. hahahaha.

So we got a little air before we assembled the table

More sparring and teasing...

Danggit...

It's food stunting time...

Turkey 1

Turkey 2

Lemon Bars

Pumpkin Tarts. My little sister loves these dang tarts. She always has me make her an individual one that is a little bigger for her to stash away and eat at her leisure - hahahahhaa. They are damn good though...

Chicken and Shrimp Pancit

Yams, Broccoli Casserole and Cornbread Stuffing

Green Bean Bundles and More Broccoli Casserole

How 'bout a little Lumpia

Or a Vat of Cheddar Mashed Potatoes from Scratch

Apple at the end of the Lineup

Mom and Rommel

Julian said the blessing and we all held hands and chopped it up and had a LOT of laughter over dinner. We were genuinely trying to wait for Wendy and Mr. T and baby Victor but the great smell of the food was just too tempting not to eat plus we waited well past the 5pm marker.

So I carved the 2nd turkey because Wendy was at the gate. Well I looked across the room and family was already passing out . Then I noticed the cutest case of I-T-I-S ever...Fortunately Steve got a picture of it...

Then sleeping beauty woke up and started his texting rampage

Wendy and Mr. T finally arrived. No one does leftovers like that huh

Kzo and Britany showed up as did Glue and Hangar 18...but I didn't get pictures of that. It was another fabulous Thanksgiving...exhausting but great. I am so comfortable with the fact that our families fit so well and that it's just a cipher of Love. I'm looking forward to other holidays...

We wrapped up around 10pm including cleanup and loading the stuff in the car. We got back to Tempe around midnight and CBug had to be at the airport. CBug was on the phone with a childhood friend of hers while Julian and I were talking. He's the sweetest ever.

J: Thank you Bebe...

Me: For What...Thanksgiving Dinner...

J: For being Sexy and Beautiful and Wonderful...and for Thanksgiving.
