19 Nov 2008: Na-Cho Birthday...

It's Naw-Cho (not your) birthday!

Naw-Cho Bar means we make all the fixins' keep the funky 7-11 style cheese in a crock pot and you build your own plate!

Hahahhahha

My sister and I now work together and I asked her if she wanted to do a food thingie for her birthday. She said sure what? I said nacho bar? She's like yeah...So I made the main part and the dept bought the other part. I made 12 lbs of ground beef "taco" meat...8 lbs of garlic oregano chicken...and a VAT of cilantro herb spanish rice. LOL. I also managed to make a dozen brownies and 2 dozen chocolate cupcakes...

Chicken

Beefy!

This is the stages to cupcakes and brownies!

Brownies

Devils Food Cakelettes

Stage 1 Frosting

Frosting Stage 2

Frosting Final Stage

Happy Birthday Keyla...Let me tell you everyone is really cool at work (except for a couple freakazoids lol) But they were very happy for Keyla and the setup...

Other people from other departments came to see our little setup and eat and well wish and hang out

Apple got in trouble coz she didn't get any good pictures. no food porn and everyones in motion. You're fired!

And after everyone ate - I finally made myself some nachos!

I have to admit I was a little tired, but everyone was so happy for Keyla's birthday and nachos and appreciative and genuinely celebratory. I would do it again anytime. I think cookie bar is gonna be my next venture with a chocolate fondue pot. LOL. It's worth it when people are excited and festive.

05 Jul 2008: Once In Awhile...

Once in awhile my friends, family and/or boyfriend convince me that going out is a good idea...and once I'm there I quickly realize that being in a noisy, hot, thumping room is a nice spot to let your daily stress to fall off...

Last night we caught the fireworks and then headed to a spot that is co-owned by Julian's friend...Of course this was after I put in a good day's work, prepped the barbecue for today, tidied up the house, made dinner and then got ready - hahahha - so a full life is always filled.

Julian and Jereme went ahead...

Keyla and Xtina pulled up the rear with me and we fought traffic in the area surrounding Mill Ave because all the fireworks spectators were leaving.

Yeah you know we clown people present and not present

And even in hot humid crowded venues - he still makes me smile!

You know what happens when you are given 2 for 1's ALL night!

All I know is everyone in our party was gettin' steadily drunkey...

A few of Julians friends hung out...some strange man took off his shirt. Another dude took off his shirt to show off his tattoo's and I didn't have the heart to tell him that the lines were all shakey and bad. One girls boobs popped out of her tank only to reveal that she was not only wearing pasties but also wearing padded pasties and her tank hung sadly around her waist like a belt. Yet another girl was doing full thrust air humps off tempo on the dancefloor by herself. And this was just the start of the night.

Julian gave Chad a call and then he showed up with the usual posse including his girlfriend Mika & Duke Nuke'em. See Chad below giving his Mika the "sexy" dance - hahahhaa

Go ahead keep those beers comin'

Keyla and Mika

Me and Mika...Let me say this. I really enjoyed Mika' company because she has sass without snottiness. She has a natural grace without anything put on. It is a relief to be with a cool guy with cool friends coz it usually means they date cool chicks. I look forward to hanging out with her sometime. Let me also say this. Mika told on Julian: She told me that whenever I am not around he pops his phone open and says this is my girlfriend...she is a chef and she is wonderful and funny and a bit nuts and I love her and oh look at this other picture. Bwaa hahahaha. She told me that it was absolutely wonderful to see and that I have a good man on my heart! Awwww.

Slim on the scene again. Let me tell you I haven't seen this cat since Cinco de Mayo 2007 and first thing he says is,"When you two gettin MARRIED!!!" Hahahahha...I laughed and said ask Mr. Man. Kibby laughed and kissed my cheek and said,"I am working on getting her a ring that she deserves..." He paused and added with a laugh,"a BiiiiiG one man!" Slim laughed and said good good...I can't wait for the wedding."

Oh you two think you're funny HUH

And you two KNOW you are cute...when they are together they are smiling of course but when they are apart they cannot STOP talking about each other...This is the blessing of a proper fit!

And right when it got good - it was time to go home. Of course we were invited to stay for the afterparty but the boys had to be to work at 8 this morning.

---

Addendum: I just have to say that the boys makin' up a rap called "fart in your face" had to be the single most funny thing ever with Christina makin' that rap video girl face with a fart in your face motion!

Good times - good times!

---

We have just finished off all the korean barbecue (beef & pork), korean cucumber salad, roasted potato salad, roasted veggies, creole rice and louisiana prawns with crusty french bread & the sweetest corn on the cob ever.

Everyone is in the pool or around the pool drinkin' green apple spumante's and beer, some of the boys are taking a nap and I've already dropped off food to Julian's work because he will be working until 10pm.

I just pulled the chocolate cupcakes out of the stove and made coffee.

Overall...it's been a great 48 hours.

26 Jun 2007: Arizona Asian Festival Recap - hella overdue

Category: Blogging

Just a quickie blog...

Day 1 was my brother, my godbrother, my sister and myself...

I gotta say I loved the dances, the fashion show and everyone just chilling and eating under the open atrium. Of course Wendy was the all day Emcee and I gotta say - she can hold a damn good face even when things get bonkers...

It was a perfect day though...nice cool winds and bright hot sun with a clear sky.

I think we could be more Asian than carryin' a hello kitty and tokidoki

Bwaa hahahhhaa

Let's eat a LOT of samosas and then take some pics

No no no take another one she says...

Why we always bringing 2 cameras...and damn near takin the same shot

Gotta love my Godbebebro...

So...my brother is like well this is fun and all that - but I got stuff to do - I'm like,"like what"...he's like I feel like gettin' a new car today. Bwaa hahaha! The three of them left to go car shopping and after the festivities I sauntered back to the parking garage after helping Wendy with her dress. And after we fawned over the youngest Taiko drummer in AZ. Nina and her Mom offered me a ride to my car...I was like why? They are like this is downtown. I started laughing and said it's only 2 or 3 blocks down and it's not even dark. I'm like one block from the theatre and a church - Jeeeeez. I'll tell you this: I wouldn't talk to me if I didn't know me - I think I can walk 3 blocks downtown.

Day 2.

More Dancing, more drumming...and we were running a little late. This was just me and Julian. He cracked me up that day coz not only did we get a late start but then he busts out with - Honey, I'm stopping at the mall...I need a hat. I just laughed. So we park at the same garage...and walk down the street - and I already knew what was gonna happen...

He accosted the statue...

Who doesn't love a little hawaiian barbecue...

Yeahhhh I kick it with Beauty Queens...

Julian learning pageant wave...

Wendy's happy cookie face. We brought her cookies coz the day before I knew she had a crazy 8 hours on the Mic and I think someone only brought her food one time. Jeeeeez.

This is my favorite GRIME face ever!!!

But this is more like it...

So right before this picture was taken I tell Julian...I was mad yesterday coz I din't win the raffle. He's like what was it - I said a gift certificate for 99 ranch Market. So he goes to get the tickets. I look at them and say," I've never won a raffle have you?" He looks at me and says,"nooo. No wait. Once at a baseball game." I laugh and say,"Well, I never win these things - but I want that Gift Cert for 99 ranch Market..." Well wouldn't you know...then they called one of our tickets. Bwaa hahahhaa. First Raffle EVER together, we still got the tickets and part of the gift certificate - their in the cigar box with our other little mementos.

Mess around and flirt with Auntie -- you end up onstage doin' a Laotion Greeting Dance...Auntie said,"you americans you touch - we do not touch"

I don't even remember what Julian was doing in this one!!!

Wendy and Worm Cheesin' it during Julian's little Laos "boogie" All I can hear is Worm sayin,"I'm glad that's not me up there maaaan" hahahaha

Worm and Julian Grubbin' happily. That's a fabulous little bonsai Worm's got at his feet. Quite a few people think I should have a food booth there next year. It's only 500 for a booth fee. I was watching the portions they serve vs the price they charge and let me tell you that is easily a 3-4K weekend. 4 thousand in 16-20 hours ain't bad. Hmmm - I have a few months to think about it.

The fireman dude walks up and says hello to me and Wendy. Then he turns to Wendy and says my buddies said I wouldn't have the nerve to talk to you. I laugh and said,"Well aren't you used to HOT STUFF" Bwaa hahaha. Then I go come on let's take a pic - and he was QUICK to oblige - bwaa hahaha.

---

What a day what a day - good times. Native Dances...Martial Arts Demos...Food and Fun...A little Shopping...Some Falun Dafa and other enlightenment - very fabulous. It was good for me to see driven little ones. I can't wait for next year.
